NO2 – Nitrogen Dioxide
Nitrogen dioxide is an irritant reddish-brown gas with an acrid odor.
In general, NO2 is by-product from the burning at high temperatures, mainly combustion of fuel such as oil, diesel, gas and organic matters. So NO2 is emitted by vehicles, power plants, industrial equipment etc.
Nitrogen dioxide is connected to some respiratory diseases (e.g., acute bronchitis, asthma) and the decrease in lung capacity. At high concentrations causes inflammation of the airways. And NO2 pollution is further related with diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
